Honold Logistik Group erects new terminal complex in Augsburg 

With a record investment of EUR 13 million the Honold Logistik Group moves on to new pastures. On a 42,300 sq. m. area in the GVZ Augsburg a terminal offering 8,500 sq. m. for throughput and storage is to be erected until July 2009. „The facility can be expanded to a maximum of 13,000 sq. m. and 90 gates on demand. The latest expansion stage would provide around 30,000 storage positions for pallets „, Heiner Matthias Honold and Managing Director Thomas Bauer announced in a press release.

About 10 percent of the investment sum are reserved to acquisitions for equipment within the scope of IT-technology (SAP R/3 software) and rack technology. The new terminal of Honold Logistik covers the activities of ABX-Honold Air & Sea, Honold Night Star Express and Honold International, which have been operated so far at different locations.

In 2008 the Honold Logistik group is creating about 300 new jobs. More than 1,250 employees are operating to a total logistics area of 750,000 m² in Germany, Slovakia, Romania, Russia and China. The terminals are used as assembly, packing, repair, quality and distribution centre for customers from the automotive, agricultural, consumer/industry, e-commerce, tyre and metal sector.

Including the operations in the network systems segment – thanks to the memberships in the cooperations System Alliance, System Plus Europa, CargoLine, Deutsche Möbelspedition, Night Star Express, ABX Honold Air & Sea – the private company group, headquartered in Neu-Ulm, generates a turnover of about EUR 225 million in 2008.
