Thermo King and Envirotainer announce delivery of 1000th temperature controlled air freight container for the pharmaceutical industry
Thermo King, manufacturer of temperature control systems for the transport industry for various mobile segments and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, and Envirotainer, worldwide leading provider of secure cool chain logistics solutions for the healthcare and biotechnology industries, announced the delivery of the 1000th refrigerated unit of Air100-RKN e1. As opposed to carbondioxide containers, this box type can be operated via batteries during flight and via an electronic link on the floor, thus maintaining temperature inside the air freight container, during the batteries are recharged.
Thermo King and Envirotainer developed the refrigerated Air100-RKN e1 particularly for the special requirements of transports for the healthcare and air freight industry. The major challenge is to secure a safe transport and precise temperature control.
„The partnership of Envirotainer and Thermo King has been a success since its start, and led to the global launch of the first compressor-operated heating and cooling container in 2005“, says Nicholas Martin, Manager Research & Development and quality ensurance of Envirotainer. Since then the Air100-RKN e1 has proven as a reliable solution and set new benchmarks for the transport of temperature-sensitive products via air freight.
