Port of Hamburg meets expansion plans

Port of Hamburg expands container terminals according to plans

The Hamburg port management strictly relies on the expansion plans for the container shipping terminals. “We are going to implement all launched projects and expansion steps without any restrictions”, Claudia Roller, Member of the Executive Management of Port of Hamburg Marketing e.V., announced last week at an information event in Vienna. “Global development and division of labour will be continuing. The Port of Hamburg needs and will brace itself accordingly”, Ms. Roller confirmed.

The Hamburg port management expects container traffic volumes to double to around 18 million TEU annually until 2015. Therefore a big investment program will be implemented during the next years to expand capacities of the container terminals Burchardkai, CTA, Eurogate and Tollerort and to prepare them for the demand.
