Port of Hamburg office moves in at Port of Vienna
Port of Hamburg shows commitment to its cooperation partner Hafen Wien / More XXL-container vessels calling Hamburg:
At the end of this year the Viennese representative office of the Port of Hamburg will move to a new building. The longstanding cooperation partners announced this change of address at a port event last week in Vienna. The move from the old location at Rennweg 17 in Vienna’s 3rd district to the premises of the Port of Vienna was a contemporary one.
Through this action the representatives are following their customers, which are now as well based closer to business, states Alexander Till, Manager of this representative office since 2007. As of December 2011, or January 2012 at latest, the new address will be Seitenhafenstraße 15, where the Port of Hamburg will move into offices on the third floor of the port administration building.
Also in Hamburg there is reason for joy. The number of calls of large container vessels at the north German port is growing. In the first six months of 2010, 51 container vessels with a slot capacity of more than 12,500 TEU called the Port of Hamburg; in the second half of the year 2010 another 27 units followed. In 2011 a total of more than 120 container giants will be handled at the container terminals in Hamburg. Six container liner services, operating vessels with more than 12,5000 TEU slot capacity, are currently calling the Port of Hamburg in a regular schedule.
Claudia Roller, CEO Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V., sees the increasing number of large container vessels as a confirmation of how urgent it is to carry out the lower and outer Elbe channel adjustments: „The lower and outer Elbe channel adjustments urgently required by industry, trade and the maritime port traffic industry would make traffic easier and safer.“ The port has already the necessary nautical equipment that allows for handling vessels of more than 14,000 TEU slot capacity (with a length of about 400 metres).
