Qatar Airways: Vienna to become an A330 destination

Qatar Airways recently celebrated the 10th anniversary on the Vienna route; introduction of an A330 aircraft in September

Qatar Airways will be upgrading services on its Vienna route with the introduction of an A330 aircraft. The switch from an A320 to the A330 aircraft will commence on September 1, 2014, and will increase both the total number of weekly seats and the freight capacity.

Qatar Airways Country Manager Germany & Austria, Mr. Günter Saurwein says: “We recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of our first flight to Vienna; a milestone which is a testament to our commitment to not only the city, but to our customers as well. We are extremely pleased that we are now able to offer an increase in capacity by introducing the A330 to the route.”

Vienna Airport Board Member, Mr. Julian Jäger adds: “Our cooperation with Qatar Airways has worked well for many years, and we see the sound development of traffic on this route as a very positive factor. We therefore welcome the changeover to a larger aircraft and the resulting expansion of capacity on these flights. This will further enhance the role of Vienna Airport as a gateway to the Middle East.”

Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operations, to the point where it now flies a modern fleet of 131 aircraft to 137 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

Over the next few months, the network will grow further with Larnaca, Cyprus (April 29), Hofuf, KSA (May 15, 2014), Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Turkey (May 22, 2014), Edinburgh, Scotland (May 28, 2014), Miami, USA (June 10, 2014), Haneda, Japan (June 18, 2014) and Dallas/Fort Worth, USA (July 1, 2014).
