Rail Cargo Operator launches new services to Germany

Rail Cargo Operator: Production concept in partnership with Kombiverkehr increases flexibility on the Germany-Austria corridor

To respond better to customer requirements, the Rail Cargo Group is about to launch new unaccompanied, combined transport services to Germany. The objective of this initiative is to strengthen transborder cargo traffic and shift the goods from road to the more environmentally friendly rail.

Therefore the Operator services linking Germany and Austria are being optimised together with the partner Kombiverkehr. The result of this partnership will be container trains operated on a regular basis between the Ruhr area and Wels, Upper Austria, with a better connection to the Baltic Sea region.

“The optimised production concept provides for 16 weekly departures on the railway from the Ruhr area and Ludwigshafen to Wels and back. On weekdays one or two departures will be operated from the port Duisburg-Ruhrort Hafen DUSS or Neuss-Hessentor. Semi-trailers, containers and swap bodies will be accepted for transport“, the company announces in a press release.

In addition Rail Cargo Operator, Member of Rail Cargo Group, operates five weekly shuttles from Wels to Vienna and return. Thus trains can be forwarded from Duisburg, Ludwigshafen and Neuss via the central gateway in Wels to Vienna and v. v., which means the Wien-Nordwest terminal provides a better connection to the east when it comes to up and downstream transport. “Customers will benefit in the form of increased flexibility and shorter transport time“, the release reads.
