Ralf Maehmel founds Baris shipping company

Baris positions itself as specialist for project and heavy load transports

By virtue of the legally binding registration in the company register the Baris Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH started operating on May 1, 2009. The enterprise is managed by its founder and majority shareholder Ralf Maehmel, who has gained experience in shipping and project logistics by holding positions at Deutsche Seereederei, Deutsche Binnenreederei and the Rhenus PartnerShip. Further shareholders are the shipping companies Imperial Reederei GmbH from Duisburg and Reederei Ed Line GmbH from Berlin. Baris benefits from the know-how of the three partners to efficiently use rivers and coastal waters for the transportation of heavy and large-volume goods.

The business model of the enterprise is based on three pillars: development of concepts for transport logistics and projects, freight forwarding business for combined transports of heavy lift and facilities, and special tonnage shipping. In the future the company will transport and store large-volume and overweight investment goods on behalf of the export-oriented German asset management. These goods are e.g. nozzles, transformers, generators and wind power plants. In the field of project logistics the company is specialising in floating water engineering structures, transfer of ship-parts and provision of infrastructure for large-scale events on the water.
