Minoan Lines reduced freight charges

Minoan Lines registered increase in freight traffic in 2008

In order to be able to offer good services and fair prices to its customers also in economically hard times the ferry shipping company Minoan Lines, affiliated to the Grimaldi Group in Naples, reduced the charges for 2009 as an encouraging measure and in response to reduced oil prices. Moreover the Minoan Driver’s Card offers truck drivers reductions in all restaurants, bars and shops on board, as the Management announced in a release. 

Minoan Lines, based in Heraklion on the island of Crete, registered an increase in truck traffic in the year 2008. A total amount of 87,000 units have been transported on the Adriatic routes Venedig-Igoumenitsa, Korfu-Patras and Ancona-Igoumenitsa. This is equal to a 7.5 per cent increase over 2007. Another 69,000 trucks were registered on the Greek route between Piräus and Heraklion. The company showed also growth in passenger and car transportations. Turnover amounted to EUR 213.6 million, which is a new record.
