Eco Danube launches liner service on the Danube

New provider of ro-ro transports on the Danube

A new provider starts to become active in river shipping on the Danube. As of May 8, 2009, the Eco Danube GesmbH, based in Enns in Upper Austria, is to offer a new regular liner service from Deggendorf via Enns to Giurgiu (Romania) and Rousse (Bulgaria). The pilot project comprises one departure every three weeks. During the initial stage mainly rolling and heavy cargo will be forwarded on the routes to south-eatsern Europe. Shipments in the opposite direction are dominated by new-car importations from Romania.

Eco Danube is a joint enterprise with four partners: Hödlmayr International (Schwertberg), Connect freight forwarding company in Wels, the river shipping company Euro Bevrachting Germany in Regensburg and the Schwandner Logistik + Transport GmbH, specialising in heavy and special transportations, headquartered in Pfreimd, Germany. The Management lies in the hands of Oskar Stelzhammer.
