Ökombi Group reported on difficult year 2009

Less trucks on Ökombi’s rolling road routes

In the first four months of 2009 the number of trucks using the rolling road services of Ökombi declined just as predicted compared to the previous year. The detailed statistics that were presented at the end of last week show 95,620 transported units in the period between January and April. This is a decline of 11.8 per cent compared to the previous year.

On the Brenner-axis the total volume – boosted by the driving ban “sectoral driving prohibition part 2“ – rose 11 per cent to 95,620 trucks. Growth driver was the Brenner-Wörgl route showing a plus of 19.8 per cent to 51,578 trucks. Volume on the routes Wels-Szeged, Wels-Maribor and Salzburg-Triest v. v. dropped by 42.2 per cent to 18,595 trucks.

Ökombi is affiliated to the Rail Cargo Austria AG and is in charge of the operation of the rolling road. In 2008 the company transported around 330,000 trucks with a total weight of 13 million tons on 7 national and international relations. With 36 employees the enterprise generated a turnover of EUR 105 million. In the current year the Management expects a total volume of 330,600 trucks at maximum. If the rolling road terminal in Kufstein will be reactivated, which has already been urged several times, volumes might rise 8 per cent to 357,000 trucks.
