Rhenus acquires majority of Asian Pro-Log Group

Entry at Pro-Log Group secures access to an own south-Asian network for Rhenus

The global network of Rhenus Logistics’ own locations is expanded. By acquiring the majority shareholding in the Asian Pro-Log Group – 100 per cent are taken over of the locations in China and Hong Kong – the transport and logistics enterprise based in Holzwickede near Dortmund reinforces its presence in the growth region Far East. The contract was signed on 31 August in Hilden.

“In the past we did not have our own independent services in the air, ocean and distribution divisions in south and south-east Asia,” says Uwe Oemmelen, a member of the Rhenus Board. Pro-Log Group has also expertise in contract logistics in Asia. As a result of taking the holding acquisition, regional turnover for Rhenus will rise by approximately USD 50 million. By integrating almost 600 employees at 19 business locations the Asian network of the private German transport and logistics group grows to 32 locations.

Pro-Log Group primarily operates in south and south-east Asia and has its own companies in Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and India. The company has been a partner for Rhenus Freight Logistics, particularly in the air and ocean divisions. Pro-Log has been handling significant transportation volumes between Europe and south/south-east Asia for some years.
