AEO certificate for HHLA Logistics

HHLA Logistics was certified as an authorised economic operator

HHLA Logistics has successfully completed the certification process as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO). With this status, the HHLA subsidiary is now able to offer its customers favourable treatment on security-relevant customs controls, and simplifications under the customs regulations.

The certificate was introduced to increase security of international supply chains between the manufacturers of goods and the end consumers. It is a crucial element in a security initiative that also involved the introduction of Europe-wide risk management, and mandatory submission of prior notification of goods exports and imports as from 1 July 2009.

The logistics segment of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG combines a wide range of port services in the fields of special logistics, consultancy and contract logistics. In 2009 the logistics division achieved an EBIT at EUR 8.2 million and a turnover of EUR 114.9 million.
