Enlarged network with Hupac Group

Combined transport operator Hupac prolongs Romania service and opens new North-South link

Hupac Group is expanding their transport network also in difficult times. The Management of the Swiss combined freight operator disclosed further details when the new intermodal terminal in Antwerp harbour was opened. Thus the link between Budapest and Curtici near Arad, which was started last August is soon to be extended into the Ploiesti industrial region. Four weekly departures are on the schedule.

New products will also be added to the North-South axis in the coming months, such as the Cologne – Novara link via Lötschberg v.v. for 4 metre-containers and the Antwerp – Verona and Rotterdam – Verona rotations. The launch of the Busto Arsizio – Barcelona link is planned for April 2010.

In the year 2009 Hupac recorded a considerable drop in traffic. With 607,284 consignments forwarded on the road last year’s figure was missed by 13.5 per cent. The only ray of light came in the form of transalpine traffic via Austria that was up 52.3 per cent to 21,082 consignments.
