RCA recovers and completes the NINA network

Rail Cargo Austria surpassed expectations in 2011 and now also serves Ennshafen within the NINA system

2011 was a better financial year than Rail Cargo Austria AG (RCA) had expected. CEO Erik Regter announced a result that was clearly above expectations at a press talk in Enns. However, the desired aim was not reached yet, the manager added. Target for 2013 was reaching a “black zero“. The goal for 2015 is a return on equity of four per cent. In the 2011 financial year forwarded volume declines two per cent.

Before Erik Regter’s visit in Enns, the container terminal Ennshafen had been integrated into Rail Cargo Austria’s NINA system in January. NINA means “National Intermodal Network Austria". The intermodal rail network within Austria links the major domestic terminals (Bludenz, Enns, Graz, Hall, Kapfenberg, Krems, Linz, Salzburg, S. Michael, Villach, Wels, Vienna and Wolfurt) via the hub in Wels daily overnight. From April to December 2011 about 80,000 units were moved within the NINA system.
