Lavazza appoints CEVA in Italy; DHL wins five-year deal with British Gas.

CEVA Logistics has signed an agreement with Lavazza in Italy to manage the distribution of 18.5 million packs of coffee a year.

CEVA will be responsible for the warehousing activities and handling of Lavazza’s coffee packs in the company’s Turin production plant.

A critical factor in the selection of CEVA was the company’s ability to achieve a high level of integration with Lavazza’s existing operational structure, and to develop innovative solutions for the entire supply chain.

DHL Supply Chain has been awarded a five-year contract worth £17 million to implement a national supply chain solution for British Gas.

DHL will deliver an advanced smart metering national supply chain solution to facilitate the installation and maintenance of more than sixteen million smart meters for twelve million British Gas customers.

DHL will deliver a national supply chain using a regional network to manage meter assets, including smart meters, in-house displays and associated ancillary items. from British Gas‘ national warehouse to DHL’s national distribution network of collection points.

DHL’s network will manage returned meters from collection points to the relevant asset owners, while DHL will work closely with British Gas to further minimise the environmental impact of the roll-out through the management of waste materials and the use of teardrop trailers.

DHL will fully integrate with current British Gas systems to provide real-time track and traceability of metering assets – at serial level number – at all points throughout the supply chain.
