Last week Managing Director Gerhard Kunesch reported a clear recovery of the air freight business and of passenger figures. The Manager referred to the reversal of the trend in the cargo segment as a reliable indicator of the development of air traffic. Last year 33,326 tons of cargo was handled in the freight segment of the Airport Linz ̶ 8.8 per cent down on 2008. The freight volume dispatched by the airport itself decreased 6.2 per cent to 24,887 tons. Despite the decline the Airport maintained its role as a leading regional air freight station in Austria.
