Rhenus lands new large-scale logistics order

Rhenus manages logistics for lifestyle products of ASA Collection

As of 1 August Rhenus Logistics takes over storage and distribution logistics for the ASA Selection-company. The products are stored and order-picked in the logistics centre in Bingen and delivered to furniture stores or retailers. Moreover the logistics service provider manages international receipt and issue of goods. The company dispatches around 50,000 consignments per year to national destinations and abroad. National distribution runs with the CODIS system. Rhenus Freight Logistics is in charge of the international consignments.

“The new challenge in this order is the large range of goods“, says Michael Köhler, Managing Director of Rhenus in Bingen. “In total we store more than 2,000 different articles for ASA, ranging from small coffee cups to table runners and floor vases measuring 134 centimetres.“ Rhenus is also charged with order-picking, labelling of individual pieces and packaging of around 20,000 parcels that are dispatched by a parcel service.

The ASA ceramic company, based in the “ceramic city“ Höhr-Grenzhausen in Rhineland-Palatinate exports ceramics all over the world and is represented in 80 countries, partly with own offices. The assortment was originally focussed on the production from Westerwald, but global change required using international production sites. Today the assortment is equally manufactured in Europe and Asia.
