Rieck Logistik Group continues expansion

Rieck Logistik reports strong growth of air/sea freight in 2008

Despite the difficult macroeconomic situation Rieck Logistik Group (Berlin) is continuing to expand. Last week Horst Stiegler, Managing Director, announced that the group wants to expand competences of the individual business units and targets organic growth in order to compensate potential downturns by new business transactions. According to this plan the representative office in Mikulov in the Czech Republic was upgraded into an autonomous location at the beginning of this year. In addition a new air freight office was opened in Munich.

In 2008 Rieck Logistik Group generated a net turnover of EUR 130 million. Thus the reference value of the previous year was exceeded by 14 per cent – despite downturns during the last four months. The sea/air cargo-division, which is predominantly handling projects towards China and India, increased its sales revenues by 40 per cent and thus contributed considerably to the above-mentioned result. The system forwarding division (land transportations) recorded a 7 per cent increase throughout Europe, whereas order volumes in the contract logistics division were stagnant.

Rieck Logistik employs around 680 persons at six locations in Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Neuss), in Mikulov and in 11 offices of the Chinese subsidiary Rieck Henco Dalian. Core items of the service range are contract logistics, system-operated general cargo traffics, global sea/air services and operations in the fields of disposal logistics, furniture and fair logistics, consulting services and e-commerce solutions. Since January 2008 the Rieck Logistik Group has been holding 35 per cent of the shares of the forwarding company Homtrans Service in Rostock.
