RCA Group organises Easter bunny logistics

Lindt & Sprüngli counting on Express-Interfracht since 5 years

Express-Interfracht, a company affiliated to the ÖBB subsidiary Rail Cargo Austria (RCA), has been entrusted with transportation of the chocolate Easter bunnies of the Swiss manufacturer of sweets Lindt & Sprüngli since 2004. Between December 2008 and March 2009 the freight forwarding company transported around 2.5 million golden Easter bunnies with bells around their necks, which are known in 40 countries worldwide, from the production plant in Aachen (Germany) to Bruck an der Leitha and to Gloggnitz, the Austrian site locations of Lindt.

Express-Interfracht forwarded the delicate Gold Bunnies in refrigerated double stack trailers at a continuous temperature of 15° Celsius. Special gadgets in the trailers allow stacking 66 pallets without intermediate contact. By this means around 32,000 bunnies can go on their journey together.

Established in 1947, Express-Interfracht GmbH is specialising in rail transportations from and to Eastern Europe and renders logistic and transport-technical services within the scope of bulk goods forwarding such as coal, timber and steel. Based on a global network of subsidiaries and partner companies, the internationally acting forwarding company renders also services in the fields of truck, river vessel, container and air freight transportations, warehousing, overseas and project business.
