Rotterdam: Neele Logistics and VAT Logistics merge

Two Rotterdam family businesses join forces to form Neele-Vat Logistics and plan to expand their joint European network

Neele Logistics and VAT Logistics are about to close ranks. Both Rotterdam family businesses are joining forces to step forward into the future under the new name Neele-Vat Logistics. The proposed merger will be submitted to the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) in October for approval.

In a press release Neele-Vat Logistics presents itself as a perfectly healthy family business that has over 500 members of staff, 20 branches in 9 different countries and a turnover of EUR 230 million per annum. Neele Logistics‘ and VAT Logistics‘ activities complement each other perfectly.

As an all-round logistics service provider, the new Neele-Vat Logistics will be able to provide its customers with an even better and wider service. The European transport and distribution networks are being further improved, both in terms of the number of destinations and frequencies. The increase in scale is also providing scope for the further development of sustainable transport solutions for customers.

The management board of Neele-Vat Logistics will be formed of Ron Neele (58), Cuno Vat (35) and others. As General Manager, Ron Neele will manage the company as a whole. The current CEO of VAT Logistics, Ruud Vat (63), will withdraw from day-to-day management when the merger takes effect. He will retain his affiliation with Neele-Vat Logistics, however, as well as being a member of the advisory board.

Neele Logistics was established in 1966 and has nine branches in: Rotterdam Hoogvliet, Botlek, Amsterdam, Coevorden, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Russia and the Czech Republic. Neele Logistics has around 230 employees. VAT Logistics was established in its current form in 1975. The company has eleven branches in: Rotterdam, Botlek, Maasvlakte, Zwijndrecht, Amsterdam, Schiphol, Duiven, China, Finland, Italy and Russia. VAT Logistics has over 300 employees.
