Sale of private railway Veolia Cargo is sealed
Incorporation of Veolia Cargo by SNCF Fret and Eurotunnel Veolia Group has finished the long-planned withdrawal from rail cargo transport. SNCF Geodis and Eurotunnel Group will take over the activities from Veolia Cargo. The private railway company comprises 20 enterprises in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Last year their 1,200 employees generated a turnover of EUR 188 million. SNCF Geodis is to acquire Veolia Cargo’s operations in Germany, Benelux and Italy, including the Rail4Chem Group that is established in chemical transport, Bayerische CargoBahn, Dortmunder Eisenbahn and the Hörseltalbahn. Europorte 2, the rail cargo segment of Eurotunnel Group, is to take over command of Veolia Cargo’s French companies.
