Salzburg Airport has made significant investments in 2013

Salzburg Airport emphasises its role as Austria’s most significant regional airport and important employer; decrease in aircargo volume in 2013

„Salzburg Airport is one of the most important companies in the federal state of Salzburg, the most important regional airport in Austria and has huge economic importance for the entire region and is a major employer. In the past financial year, the dividend for the country amounted to EUR 1.8 million,“ Christian Stöckl, chairman of the supervisory board and deputy governor of the federal state, said at a press conference in Salzburg in the presence of the Airport’s managing director Roland Hermann and director Karl Heinz Bohl, who were quite optimistic about the future.

In the 2013 financial year the airport invested EUR 9 million. “If indirect profitability is multiplied by three, the airport has made a pure investment of almost EUR 30 million“, they stressed to journalists. Austro Control’s air traffic control tower can be seen from afar, as a new, urban striking symbol at the west entrance to the capital city of the federal state. It ensures the operation of the technical equipment for years to come.

The only downer is the perceptible decrease in air cargo volume, of 15 per cent to 182.3 tonnes compared to 2012. However, the truck replacement transport developed positively with an increase of 13.8 per cent year-on-year.
