Salzburg Airport: Increases in flown air freight

Almost ten per cent less freight handled at the Salzburg Airport in the 2011 financial year

Following a big jump in the year 2010 (up 22 per cent) the Salzburg Airport registered a declining cargo business last year. Including truck replacement transportations, freight throughput declined 9.5 per cent to 9,427 tons. As for flown cargo a 9.7 per cent-increase to 168.7 tons was registered. These figures were announced by the airport managers Ing. Roland Hermann and Mag. Karl-Heinz Bohl on 13 January.

Despite the three per cent decrease to 19,548 take-offs and landings for commercial traffic (liner and charter), passenger volume rose 4.6 per cent to 1.701 million persons. “In Salzburg a trend towards the use of bigger aircraft can be viewed“, the managers of the Salzburg Airport added.
