Salzburg branch of GLS Austria is fit for further growth

Expanded facility of the parcel and express service provider GLS Austria in Anthering near Salzburg is designed for a daily maximum capacity of 25,000 parcels

GLS Austria started handling parcels with its expanded capacity in Anthering near Salzburg on 11 June. The parcel and express service provider invested about EUR 0.7 million into a large expansion of the depot. The building was easy to expand for transhipment: 20 new gates allow handling a maximum of 25,000 parcels daily. In total the depot has now more than 2,000 m² transhipment area and 66 loading stations, with six gates for the main run trucks and 60 for delivery vehicles.

Many customers of GLS Austria are headquartered in greater Salzburg. The location is an important gateway towards Bavaria and western Austria. In the past years parcel volume has doubled. “The expansion in Salzburg is a benefit for customers and recipients of GLS“, says Klaus Schädle, managing director Europe South GLS. “In the morning we finish earlier with the handling. Our transport companies and their drivers thus win valuable time for delivery.“

GLS Austria expects above market-average growth rates from its tight economic relations with southern Germany. The expansion in Anthering makes the company feel fit for the coming years. “Quality and transnational performance comes first with all our investments“, adds Klaus Schädle.
