Schachinger techlog has successfully completed the relocation of the data centre of the Krankenanstalten Verbund Wien (KAV) – the hospital network of Vienna. The project was scheduled from August 2014 to October 2014. The entire project team (project manager Werner Lassmann and Wolfgang Achs) could implement this sensible move successfully and without any complaint.

Logistic services in the project:

• Transport of approximately 480 IT components (unpacked server racks or individual components)

• Pick up and delivery to point of use (ie including removal and relocation to / from the installation place)

• Transport within Vienna in the new data centre in Vienna’s 3rd district

• Move in 10 tranches within 12 weeks

• Performance during the day and / or night

• All shipments with security monitoring

• Insurance Value „All Risks“: EUR 20 million

• Provision of a back-up concept, in case of failure return transport (eg technical problems in the new centre).

„Noteworthy of the contract awarding was that Schachinger techlog was invited to create a logistics concept because of its very good reputation in the Austrian market and the successful completion of similar projects (eg, relocation data centre ÖBB). This shows the significant importance Schachinger techlog now has reached the Austrian market,“ says Andreas Fida, as commercial project manager.

And, he adds: „The insurance sum of EUR 20 million for this project may cover only the current value of the hardware. In case of damage, the real damage would be higher. Therefore, great attention is paid to quality and reliability of the service provider implementing such projects. Own staff, own fleet and corresponding references are the sound USPs of our company in this sensitive business. “
