Siemens Energy trusts in DSV Air & Sea for a major deal

DSV Air & Sea tranships power plant components on behalf of Siemens Energy to West Africa:

DSV Air & Sea has been attending to a major project on behalf of Siemens Energy since June 2011. The logistics service provider is in charge of the transport of components for a gas power plant to Nigeria. More than 40,000 tons of freight from three continents have to be transhipped from three continents to the destination port Lagos in West Africa within a small time window.

The lion’s share of the goods is handled by ocean freight transport, some sensitive loads are transported by air freight. In addition DSV assumes customs clearing of the power plant components. The scope of delivery ranges from turbines and generators to transformers with a maximum single weight of 100 tons.

In the frame of this project the gas power plant Geregu II is being built in Ajaokuta, about 200 kilometres in the south of Nigeria’s capital Abuja. The power plant shall start operating by the end of 2012. With a performance of 434 megawatt it is a milestone in the expansion of the power network in Nigeria.
