Severe weather conditions have impacted all modes of transport in the UK, causing flight cancellations, rail service suspensions and road closures in various parts of the country.

Air:  The following airports are closed due to severe weather conditions:

  • Gatwick: No departures or arrivals. The runway will remain closed until at least 06h00 tomorrow
  • Edinburgh: Closed, expected to reopen tomorrow
  • Dundee: Flights suspended
  • Doncaster: Flights suspended
  • Durham Tees Valley: Flights suspended

The following airports are open, but some airlines are experiencing delays or cancellations due to snow disruption at other airports:

  • Cardiff
  • East Midlands
  • Glasgow
  • Heathrow
  • Liverpool
  • London City
  • Stansted
  • Manchester: Operations suspended at 23h00 yesterday, resumed at 01h00 today.

Road:  Many roads are closed due to snow and ice, resulting in traffic congestion on alternative routes.

In Kent, the Dartford River Crossing is closed, with traffic being diverted through one of the Dartford tunnels, and the Forth road bridge in Scotland is closed.

Rail:  Service on some sections of the rail network has been suspended, specifically in parts of:

  • Nottinghamshire and Merseyside
  • Yorkshire
  • Grimsby
  • Greater Manchester
  • Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire, Argyll and Bute
