Sodrugestvo Group announces acquisition of Lider Armazens Gerais

Takeover of Lider Armazens Gerais strengthens position of Sodrugestvo Group as a storage manager of agricultural goods in Brazil:

Sodrugestvo Group, headquartered in Luxemburg, has purchased 100 per cent of Lider Armazens Gerais S.A.. Lider is the biggest privately-owned Brazilian enterprise active in the segment storage and throughput of cereals. The enterprise operates 15 warehouses in Brazil’s most rapidly growing agricultural regions. Lider owns and operates two cargo handling terminals in Minas Gerais and Tocantins on behalf of Bergbaukonern Vale.

Acquiring Lider enables Sodrugestvo to increase capacity for static storage in Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goias from 600,000 tons to about 900,000 tons. The newly acquired company will be integrated into the joint venture Carol-Sodru S.A., which operates 14 grain stores in Sao Paulo, Goias and Minas Gerais. Sodrugestvo financed the acquisition fully from its own capital without any loans.

The Sodrugestvo Group was established in 1994 and is vertically integrated through three business divisions: special infrastructure (including deepsea ports), logistics (including rail wagons and storage) and processing facilities (for the production of animal and vegetable proteins and oils). Last year Sodrugestvo has grinded more than 1.3 million tons of soy beans and raps. This makes the company a leader in northern, middle and eastern Europe. Moreover they handled more than 2.3 million tons of agricultural goods.

Apart from its headquarters in Luxemburg Sodrugestvo operates locations in a dozen of nations; Russia, Ukraine, Denmark, Brazil, U.S., Switzerland and several East European countries among them. Their 1,350 employees have generated a group turnover of USD 1.32 billion last financial year (30 June 2011).
