Stop for shipping on the Slovak section of the Danube
Derogation of inland navigation on the Danube: Repair works at the Gabčikovo lock to start on October 14, 2013, 3 pm.
„Until further notice passage through the Gabčikovo lock on the Danube segment at river kilometer 1865.00 will not be possible from the October 14, 2013, at 3 pm. due to the lowering of the water level for repair works in the access channel. For the same reason restrictions apply for the Danube section from kilometer 1880.26 to 1865.00,“ the Danube Commission representative of the Slovak Republic announces in a mailing.
On October 18 the raising of the water level shall be started on this section, which will result in a lowering of the water level below the Gabčikovo lock. Skippers sailing in the upper part of the above named Danube section during this time, will have to comply with the prevailing navigational conditions.
