Takeover of TMF opens new market segment to VTG AG

VTG AG from Hamburg offers also European transport solutions for agricultural goods in the rail logistics segment

 

With a company takeover the Hamburg-based wagon hire and rail logistics company VTG Aktiengesellschaft expands its operating range to the European transport market for agricultural products. With the acquisition of 75 per cent of the shares of the French rail logistician TMF, their wagon fleet is enlarged by 1,100 grain wagons. In the future they will dispose also of transport competence and equipment for grain, sugar and other agricultural goods, as CEO Heiko Fischer announces.

The newly acquired company will be integrated into the rail logistics business division of VTG Aktiengesellschaft. In the period from January to September the enterprise generated in this segment a turnover of EUR 143.8 million (up 5.8 per cent). The wagon hire segment posted a turnover at EUR 211.9 million, which is 0.8 per cent above the figure of the previous year. As for tank container logistics VTG AG registered a jump in turnover of 26.9 per cent to EUR 107.1 million in the reporting period.

VTG Aktiengesellschaft has 963 employees worldwide and counts among the leading wagon hire and rail logistics enterprises in Europe. The company disposes of the biggest private wagon fleet in Europe. Around 50,000 rail wagons worldwide are available, mainly tank wagons, modern wide body goods wagons and flat rail cars. In addition to hiring rail cargo wagons the group offers worldwide tank container transportations as well as comprehensive multimodal logistics services focussing on railway.
