TGF Transfracht launches service to „KombiTerminal Burghausen“

In the future, the AlbatrosExpress will run six times a week between this thriving industrial region and different container terminals in Bremerhaven and Hamburg

As part of a joint undertaking with chemical logistics DB Schenker BTT GmbH, TFG will start operating a rail link to the Burghausen combined transport terminal (KombiTerminal Burghausen, KTB) on June 14, 2015, and it will continue to expand its transport links to southern Germany. Burghausen’s hinterland has become a key site for companies working in what is known as Bavaria’s „chemicals triangle“.

Berit Börke, Managing Director at TFG Transfracht, says, „Launching a direct transport service to the chemicals triangle will see us strengthen our offering for businesses in Bavaria. By expanding rail freight operations, we are looking forward to seeing more goods switch from road to rail transport and the beneficial effects this will have on the environment.“

The specialist for seaport hinterland transport increased its number of Bavaria-bound services in April of this year. Since then, trains have run once a day or more between container terminals at Germany’s northern ports and the Munich/Augsburg, Nuremberg/Bamberg and Regensburg terminals. The launch of services to Burghausen now increases the weekly number of trains to 41.

TFG Transfracht is Europe’s market leader in containerized seaport hinterland transport from the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven to locations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Its network provides 4,000 TEU in transport capacity each day. TFG Transfracht is part of DB Mobility Logistics AG. In 2014, the company generated revenues of EUR 228 million and handled a transport volume of 872,000 TEU.
