Three shipping companies launch new Asia-Europe service

New joint service of Evergreen Line, CSCL and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services starting by the end of April

 

Evergreen Line, China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services (ZIM) are about to launch a new joint weekly Asia-Europe service. The service, commencing in late April 2011, will be operated under the names "CES2" (by Evergreen) and "AEX2" (by CSCL and ZIM), respectively.

"The new service will add the ports of Xiamen in South China and Antwerp in Belgium to enhance capacity availability for shippers utilizing Asia-Europe services”, as spokespersons for the three carriers said. The three carriers together will deploy nine ships with capacities between 8,000 TEU and 8,500 TEU. Evergreen will supply five 8,000 TEU vessels. One 8,000 TEU and two 8,500-TEU vessels will come from ZIM’s fleet and one 8,000 TEU from CSCL.

ZIM Antwerp will initiate the new service from Qingdao on 24 April with the following 63 days rotation: Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Tanjung Pelepas, Qingdao.
