TNT Express starts first freighter service from Chongqing to Europe

TNT Express direct service connects west-Chinese high tech industrial centre Chongqing to Europe

TNT Express has considerably expanded its China program. They launched a direct service from Chongqing in western China to Liege. The route is operated three times weekly with an aircraft type Boeing 747, providing more than 100 tons air freight capacity. The reason for the opening of the new route is the strongly increasing demand of west Chinese high tech industries for rapid cargo connections to European economic centres.

Chongqing profits from the “Western China Development Strategy“ of the government in Beijing. Between January and August exportations have skyrocketed by 62.1 per cent compared to the previous year to USD 4.2 billion. GDP has risen 17.6 per cent to USD 54.5 billion in the first six months. The high tech industry has considerably accounted for this development. TNT Express expects this branch to give important impetuses for their new regular cargo service.
