Transatlantic cooperation of Itella Logistics and Mainfreight

Partnership with Mainfreight USA shall boost the position of Itella Logistics on traffic relations with North America:

The forwarding groups Mainfreight USA and Itella Logistics (Helsinki) have agreed upon a tight cooperation in the sector of transatlantic transport and logistics services effective from 1 September. The partnership covers all locations of both enterprises. The Itella Logistics Management expects this alliance to have positive effects on the further development of their transatlantic business.

In 2010 Itella Logistics employed 7,700 persons at more than 30 locations in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia, who generated a turnover of EUR 677 million. The product portfolio comprises activities in the following sectors: overland transport, air/ocean freight forwarding, warehousing/distribution and contract logistics.

Mainfreight USA operates offices and logistics facilities at 38 sites in the United States of America. The global network of the Mainfreight Group, established in 1978 in New Zealand, consists of 3,300 employees at 80 stations. Through the purchase of the Wim Bosman Group they gained a foothold at the European continent at the start of this year.
