Transfracht simplifies booking

TFG Transfracht launches optimised booking system for customers

With a new website the container operator TFG Transfracht provides many advantages to its clients. “The new website makes it far easier for TFG customers to book their containers, hence enabling them to save a lot of time when making bookings and monitoring their assignments”, stated the Management in a press release.

TFG Transfracht receives around 90 per cent of its container orders electronically, i.e. per EDI interface or online. The www.transfracht.com booking portal records 800 online container bookings, 900 each of price and status enquiries and more than 18,000 page views every day. According to the company’s statement an average online booking takes around 2 œ minutes to complete.

Since its establishment in 1969, TFG Transfracht has evolved into the market leader of seaport-hinterland traffic with German seaports. On behalf of shipping lines and freight forwarders the company transports containers from German seaports directly to the end-recipients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and from the original shippers to German seaports. The AlbatrosExpress rail network connects three countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and two seaports (Bremerhaven, Hamburg). The spine of the network is formed by 21 terminals.

DB Mobility Logistics and HHLA Intermodal are each holding 50 per cent of the shares of TFG Transfracht. The container operator based in Frankfurt/Main has 170 employees and achieved a  turnover of EUR 272 million in 2008. The company transported 990.000 TEU for shipping lines and freight forwarders.
