A detailed planning application to establish the major new logistics facility at the Nova Business Park in Robroyston, has been submitted to Glasgow City Council
The planning application is for a 500,000 ft2 storage and distribution warehouse with ancillary offices and vehicle parking. It will be built on a 45-acre site forming part of the Scottish Enterprise managed business park and sits alongside the existing Robroyston Retail Park off Junction 2 of the M80. The site, allocated for commercial use in Glasgow City Council’s Local Development Plan, has remained vacant for many years.
The publisher will move to the new facility in 2025 when the lease on its current facility in Bishopriggs expires.
The Bishopriggs facility extends to some 110-acres with two warehouses totalling 750,000 ft2. It sends out up to 2 million books around the world each week.
It has 65,000 bulk pallet locations, which hold around 45 million books in stock. It’s fully automated with advanced sorting equipment and sophisticated voice-picking technology for efficiency and accuracy.
