TX Logistik starts container train to Vienna

TX Logistik block train connects Hamburg/Bremerhaven and Vienna

TX Logistik AG, based in Bad Honnef (Germany), started one more container rail-connection. The new shuttle of the private railway company is rotating six times weekly since January 7th, 2009 between Hamburg and Vienna. In addition the service calls at Bremerhaven on two days a week. A stopover at the Ennshafen container terminal (Upper Austria) is scheduled for both directions. At every departure a capacity of 90 TEU is available. The transport time is about 24 hours.

The new regular transport is used by the Vienna based container operator IMS Intermove Systems, whose “Austria Container Shuttle” connects the terminals Wien-Freudenau and Ennshafen with Hamburg and Bremerhaven. For TX Logistik the new route represents an eastwards expansion of the network. Until now the activities of the private railway company were focused on transportations on the north-south axis crossing the Alps. Since 2005 Trenitalia has been holding 51 per cent of TX Logistik, which has 200 employees and generated a turnover of EUR 100 million last year.
