United Parcel Service increases its offer for TNT Express

The merger of TNT Express into the organisation of UPS would create a new leading player in the global logistics industry

United Parcel Service headquartered in Atlanta, US-state Georgia, confirms its claim on an outstanding position in the market segment of global transport logistics and supply chain management services. On Monday in Amsterdam the enterprise increased its offer for the proposed takeover of the globally leading provider of express freight services TNT Express (77,000 staff; EUR 7.25 billion in turnover in 2011) to EUR 5.16 billion. According to estimations the transaction would deliver an annual run rate of approximately EUR 400 to EUR 550 million of pre-tax cost synergies.

The takeover of TNT Express would raise UPS’ revenues generated outside the United States from 26 per cent today to around 36 per cent. The integration of TNT Express‘ would give the potential purchaser access to a dense intra-Europe road freight network and strengthen its market position in the growth regions Asia-Pacific and Latin America. The logistics group created by the integration of TNT Express into the organisation of the United Parcel Service would post annual revenues of EUR 45 billion.
