Variolog AG: New provider for logistics property development

Former ProLogis Manager Christian Bischoff dares the step into the enterpreneurial independency by founding Variolog AG

The European market for logistics property development counts a new provider. Effective from February 2011 the former Northern Europe head of ProLogis, Christian Bischoff, founded the Variolog AG (Düsseldorf). The chairman of the supervisory board of the company specialising on the development of logistics properties will be Dr. Wolfgang Dietz, whose special logistics projects cover among others the construction of the modern Animal Lounge at the Frankfurt airport.

„With our owner-managed enterprise we want to form a targeted counterpoint in the development of logistics properties and sites. Because a logistics hall is able to be quite more than a big box or just a product of financial engineering“, the Variolog CEO explains the strategy. Germany was very creative in technical engineering, which has to be reflected by its logistics properties as well.

The graduated business economist and logistics expert has a clearly defined growth target for his newly established enterprise: „The financial structure of Variolog is designed for handling several projects at a time,“ says Bischoff. Until the end of this year they will presumably initiate projects with a total volume of 100,000 m² and enhance the Variolog staff to about 15 employees. The focus lies on projects for “Light and Heavy Manufacturing“ as well as the dangerous goods and air freight industry. Variolog AG is headquartered in Düsseldorf. They plan to open an office in Berlin on the medium term.
