Vienna Airport enters the year 2014 with a cargo plus

Vienna Airport saw almost double-digit percentage growth in cargo volume in January 2014

In its latest press release on the January 2014 traffic figures the Vienna Airport reports a “strong growth in cargo”. According to the information 19,725 tonnes of cargo (air cargo and trucking) were handled in the first month of the year. This means a 9.9 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in January 2014 rose by 2.3 per cent year-on-year to more than 1.4 million passengers. Flight movements declined by 1.3 per cent, while maximum take-off weight and cargo increased 1.5 per cent to 583,682 tonnes.

The number of local passengers rose by 6.1 per cent during January 2014. In contrast a decline of 5.4 per cent was recorded in the number of transfer passengers.
