ÖBB expands railway station in Ludesch

ÖBB invests double-digit million Euro amount into the expansion of railway station in Ludesch, Vorarlberg; Four sidings and one shunting track to be set up before the end of 2015

The Austrian national railways ÖBB are planning to expand the railway station in Ludesch until the end of 2015. Four sidings and one shunting track shall be set up. The investment totals EUR 15 million, as the Austrian broadcasting company ORF announces in their “Vorarlberg-News”.

One of the major beneficiaries of the upgrading is Rauch Fruchtsäfte, a producer of fruit juices. Until present wagons of the company have to be shunted at the border of the municipalities Nüziders and Ludesch to the railway station in Bludenz, from where they are forwarded in wagon groups. The expansion shall simplify rail transport and allow for more transportations to be shifted from road to rail in the future. As to the municipality of Ludesch the project means additional jobs will be created.
