Visemar Line launches liner service related to Austria

Visemar Line’s ro-pax liner service from Venice to Syria and Egypt to start on 20 May

Launching a ro-pax liner service from Venice to Tartus (Syria) and Alexandria (Egypt), the Italian shipping company Visemar Line opens up new possibilities for the Austrian economy to handle transportations with destination or departure points in the Near East. At a presentation in Vienna Chairman Stefano Tositti recommended the service, which is going to start on 20 May, as a bridge to ship rolling load from/to Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. “The shortest way to Bagdad is via Tartus“, was his main statement.

From 20 May the ro-pax vessel “Vismar One“ is to start its journey from Venice to Tartus and Alexandria every Thursday. The travel time to Tartus is 20 hours. The route segment from Alexandria to Venice takes 60 hours. For each departure a capacity for 200 trucks is available; including 100 reefer plugs. Stefano Tositti’s target is to soon set up a second liner service with the folliwing rotation: Venice-Alexandria-Tartus-Venice.
