This business enables us simultaneously to develop new market segments and gain new customers“, Heiko Fischer, CEO VTG, explains the impact of this transaction. Previously operated under the name Texas Railcar Leasing, the VTG subsidiary will act as VTG Rail in the North American market in future. Operating business of SCRL and the existing customer relations will be introduced in the new company. The same applies to the employees.

VTG Rail took over more than 2,000 wagons from SCRL. These are mainly cargo wagons for the transport of agricultural products, coal, salt and other minerals. In 2008 VTG acquired the Texas Railcar Leasing Company with around 1,000 wagons and entered the North American wagon hire business. In the following two years the number of wagons was doubled through acquisitions.
