Weiss-Röhlig opens first branches in Vietnam

Weis-Röhlig joint venture expands market presence in Asia; Christian Predan to head 20 employees at national company in Vietnam

Weis-Röhlig, a cooperative of Gebrüder Weiss (Lauterach) and Röhlig Logistics (Bremen), announces the opening of two of the first branches in Vietnam. Including the new branches in the cities of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi the joint venture is now present at 39 places in ten Asian countries.

Weiss-Röhlig Vietnam wants to integrate the emerging country seamlessly into the international logistics network of the two companies. “The locations in the north and south of Vietnam ideally complete our South China Sea network“, says Joe Lässer, Director Air & Global Development at Gebrüder Weiss.

Weiss-Röhlig Vietnam arises from a several-years-cooperation with the Vietnamese forwarding company RLG, whose “International Forwarding” operations have meanwhile been taken over by Weiss-Röhlig. Regional know how of the 20 local employees is completed with a GW manager from Europe: Cristian Predan, lately heading Gebrüder Weiss Air & Sea in Romania and Bulgaria, will be heading this new enterprise. “Demand for industrial machines, spare parts, highly specialised goods and niche products makes Vietnam a very interesting market for companies from western industrial nations“, the new country manager is convinced. In addition to the international market, it’s a declared goal of Weiss-Röhlig Vietnam to offer also comprehensive services to domestic customers.
