15 years of Austrian freight airline Amerer Air

Amerer Air in 2010: Air freight wanes but strong demand for container trucking

Amerer Air GmbH celebrates its 15th anniversary with mixed feelings. The air freight business (ad hoc/full time charter and road feeder services) stands still in 2010. In turn the enterprise registers a positive business development in its segments container trucking and show truck. Moreover general manager and captain Heinz Peter Amerer reports on a good utilisation rate of their container depot at the company headquarters in Linz-Hörsching when talking to the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung (Austrian Transport Magazine).

Amerer Air operates a freight machine of the Fokker F27 Mk 500-type with almost 7 tons of carrying capacity. The road transport fleet comprises 15 tractors and 35 container chassis, as well as three special vehicles of the Kennworth brand used for the show truck segment. The container trucking division handled a volume of 12,000 units in the year 2009 and thus accounted for a major part of the total turnover at EUR 2.7 million. According to Heinz Peter Amerer the company currently has a staff of 30 persons.

ÖVZ N° 38/2010 which is to be issued on 20 September will contain a detailed report on the activities of Amerer Air.
