2008 was a good year for Bremen Ports

Bremen Ports (Germany) set new record in container handling

Bremen Ports registered a good year 2008. 74.6 million tons of goods were handled at the quay facilities in Bremen and Bremerhaven, 7.9 per cent more than in the same period of the previous year. Container throughput amounted to 5.5 million TEU (+ 12.6%) which is a historic high. Hence Bremerhaven was able to considerably increase the market share of the Hamburg-Antwerp-range despite the growing financial and economic crisis.

Bremen Ports achieved also growing figures in conventional cargo handling. With 9.7 million tons the reference value of the previous year had been exceeded by 5.8 per cent, while the market leadership within this segment was kept in Germany. However the bulk volume dropped by 12.9 per cent to 9.8 million tons.
