Vienna International Airport registered air freight boom in the first quarter of 2010

From January until March 2010 the total volume (air freight and trucking) has risen 29.8 per cent on the previous year to 70,391 tons. The main growth drivers were importations from Asia (China, Taiwan, South Korea), which were high flying in the truest sense of the word since the fourth quarter of 2009.

In March air freight business was particularly going well at the VIE. For this month the transport statistics sheet of the Flughafen Wien AG showed a cargo transport volume of 27,155 tons (air freight and trucking). Thus the volume handled in March 2009 was exceeded by 32.6 per cent.
