Air Cargo Germany expands freighter fleet

ACG Air Cargo Germany GmbH will add Beijing to its network from the winter flight schedule

ACG Air Cargo Germany GmbH adds two units to its four units comprising freighter fleet. Depending on the certification by the German Aviation Authority Luftfahrt-Bundesamt from October two B747-400ERF long-haul freighters shall join the fleet of the Hahn-based cargo airline. In turn two out of the four B747-400SFs currently operated by ACG Air Cargo Germany will be returned to the lessor Martinair next year. Moreover ACG’s cockpit staff will be increased to more than 100 Captains and First Officers.

The aircraft come from ACG’s stakeholder AirBridge Cargo (holding 49% of the shares), the line-haul arm of Russian capacity provider Volga-Dnepr. Thanks to their nose loading door they can carry oversized cargo as well. The B747-400ERF can carry a maximum payload of 120 tons and fly 9,120 km nonstop. Michael Bock, CEO of ACG, expects the aircraft to enhance market options due to their improved range capabilities. Commencing with the winter flight schedule ACG will add Beijing to its network, offering three weekly roundtrips to the Chinese capital. The new route complements the Shanghai services. In addition Chicago will be upgraded from two to three frequencies per week and Mexico City from one to two flights.

In fiscal 2011 ACG Air Cargo Germany turned over EUR 230 million. The upcoming six freighters comprising business plan foresees sales of 430 million euros annually. Currently 180 staff stands on ACG’s payroll.
