Austria, Switzerland and France boost CargoLine

CargoLine general cargo network recorded significant growth in European land transport in 2013; new international premium services to be introduced

CargoLine, a general cargo network, is satisfied with the developments in the year 2013. This becomes evident in the increase of outgoing volume by 1.2 per cent to 11.84 million shipments, and turnover growth to about EUR 1.41 billion (up 0.6 per cent).

European land transport in the general cargo network showed particularly high growth rates. The total of 2.78 million shipments (up 3 per cent) were mainly generated by transportations to Austria, France and Switzerland. On the national level outgoing volume amounted to 9.06 million shipments (up 0.9 per cent). ThermoLine, the new product for the transport of frost-sensitive goods in heated trailers, was well received despite the mild winter 2013/2014.

The 45 partners of the network responded to the business development in 2013 with more staff. The 7,223 employees (up 1 per cent) by the end of 2013, include 824, or 11.4 per cent young people who are trained as professionals by the group. Last year around 920 employees participated in the 67 trainings of the CargoLine Academy. These courses are for professional and personal development and help to secure the standard level of high quality in the network.

For 2014 Jörn Peter Struck, CEO of CargoLine, expects „national organic growth of three per cent. On the international level we want to achieve an increase of six per cent.“ The increase on the national level shall be achieved through closer connection of general cargo transport and contract logistics. On the international level, the planned introduction of more premium products in fall shall help increase the number of shipments.

CargoLine headquartered in Frankfurt (Main) is a cooperative for standardised and system-based general cargo transport in Germany and Europe. Founded in 1993, the national network is today formed by 45 medium-sized system partners, completed by international partners. In addition to system-based transport services, the focus lies on distribution, procurement and contract logistics.
