BLG Logistics Group recorded growth in all business divisions in 2012

About 5.9 million TEU and more than two million vehicles passed the terminals of BLG Logistics Group in Bremerhaven in 2011:

The 2011 financial year was a good one for the BLG Logistics Group. CEO Detthold Aden announced growth in all business divisions at the Bremen state press conference on 21 December. “We will achieve a total of more than six million vehicles in the automotive logistics division this year. Our Bremerhaven automobile terminal is our front-runner with over two million vehicles and a growth of more than 30 percent. This sees us reach the top figures in 2007 and 2008 again,” he said.

The cornerstones of the contract logistics division are the business fields: car parts, industrial logistics, trade logistics and seaport logistics. Car parts logistics performed well this year. The handling volume at the container terminals operated by the Eurogate joint venture is above last year’s level, and Bremerhaven is the forerunner with around 5.9 million TEU. However, the conventional turnover of 1.5 million tonnes at the Neustadt port did not meet expectations. “We continue to run the Neustadt port with its 200 jobs, but will also use parts for the growing automotive logistics,” says Aden.

The 2011 results of the corporate group are not yet back at their pre-crisis level. According to Aden, sales revenue may total somewhat more than a billion Euros by the end of this year (it was 897 million in 2010). For 2012 however the BLG head expects the growth to continue abroad.
